Technology used by a Veterinarian

The use of technological devices is prominent in the field of medicine. Veterinary medicine is no exception.

They have specialised equipment for every animal out there to treat them with the utmost care.

Different companies are constantly trying to manufacture new equipment for the purpose of treatment of animals. But first, these companies need to have their devices approved by the FDA. Here is an article from which shows how a particular device gets selected into the market.

The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) defines medical device as “an instrument, apparatus, implement, machine, contrivance, implant, in-vitro reagent, or other similar or related article, including any component, part, or accessory, which is … intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease in man or other animals, or [which is] intended to affect the structure or any function of the body of man or other animals … .”  Read the full article here.

That hopefully gave you a glimpse about how hard it is for new technology to be launched in the market for public use. Here is a list from that shows the various equipmnt used by veterinarians

DRE Veterinary has a wide variety of veterinary specific surgical instruments for a variety of common procedures. If you do not see the instrument of set you are searching for please feel free to call us and we will source the instruments you need. We carry a very good variety online and have access to many more. Access the full website here.

After going through the above two posts, it is important that you see the technology that is used in a normal veterinarian set-up. Here is a video to help you understand it.

It isn’t easy being a veterinarian. You need to know how to do everything the orthodox way without any machines and also you need to know how to use the same machines when needed. But all this is worth it considering how much salary an average veterinarian gets. This might not be the best motivation to become a Vet tech, but it sure is a good one.
