California Micro Devices
Presents ASIP™ Solutions for Flat Panel
Displays at DisplaySearch Conference
Highly Integrated ESD and EMI Solutions
for High Definition Flat Panel TVs
and Mobile Handset Displays
SAN DIEGO, Calif., -- March 20, 2006
-- California
Micro Devices (NASDAQ: CAMD), a leading supplier of application specific
analog semiconductor products for mobile handsets, personal computer and
digital consumer electronics applications, will be showcasing its popular
Application Specific Integrated Passive™ (ASIP™)
solutions for digital television, flat panel monitor and mobile handset
applications at the 8th Annual DisplaySearch US FPD Conference in San
Diego, California from March 20 through 22.
Designed Into Leading Digital Consumer
Electronics and Mobile Applications
California Micro Devices’ ASIP™
solutions are designed into a broad range of leading digital flat panel
TVs, flat panel monitors and mobile handsets, providing the industry’s
highest levels of electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and electromagnetic
interference (EMI) filtering, along with other functions such as signal
termination and level shifting.
MediaGuard™ HDMI Port Protection
for Digital TV
The CM2020 and CM2021 HDMI MediaGuard™
port protectors provide low capacitance ESD (electrostatic discharge)
protection plus backdrive and overcurrent protection and low capacitance
level shifting circuits for HDMI receivers and transmitters increasingly
used in digital TVs, flat panel displays, set top boxes and DVD players.
These highly integrated, proven and economical solutions permit ease of
layout and faster time to market.
Praetorian™ EMI Filters
for Wireless Handsets
Praetorian™ EMI filter arrays
are designed for the latest multimedia enabled wireless handsets with
high data rates between the processor and their high resolution displays
and cameras. The groundbreaking Praetorian™ process technology
allows the integration of spiral inductors with capacitors and ESD protection
diodes in a single chip design, providing superior EMI filtering, higher
cutoff frequencies, minimal insertion loss, sharper rolloff and greater
levels of attenuation at high frequencies than conventional RC filters.
PhotonIC™ LED Drivers for
Wireless Handsets
CMD will be displaying its newest capabilities
in LED drivers for mobile phones. CMD recently announced a definitive
agreement to acquire Arques Technology (see separate release) with a broad
portfolio of innovative products. As advanced multimedia features become
increasingly accepted, brighter display, high intensity camera flash and
‘funlights’ become key requirements. CMD’s PhotonIC™
product offering provides significant power efficiency, low cost and maximum
space savings.
Other Booth Highlights
Other major applications that California Micro
Devices will be presenting include:
- ESD solutions featuring the PicoGuard™ CM1213 family of ESD diode arrays, providing up to 8 channels of 8kV contact ESD protection in a single package, with only 1pF of capacitance - the industry’s lowest capacitance diode arrays for DVI, HDMI, USB, serial ATA and IEEE 1394 ports.
- Centurion™ EMI filters for wireless handset high speed color LCD interfaces. California Micro Devices’ proprietary Centurion™ advanced zener process technology provides enhanced EMI filtering performance, greater ESD protection and dramatically lower capacitance levels than traditional solutions.
